Most of this article is fine, but it's obviously POV with the sentence "Gmail Drive is easy to use". I know it's a tiny thing but an encyclopaedia is not there to to give opinions on things, only to give facts. Could someone please change it to something a little less opinionated? -- Ukdragon37 21:18, 20 October 2005 (UTC)
This is incorrect, I think:
Who is the third party? The software is provided by a third party but the GMail a/c details are not communicated to any third party. Paul Beardsell 21:39, 21 April 2006 (UTC)
There's a sentence "...but does not give an actual drive letter, such as C:, preventing its use in all DOS applications, and some older Windows applications" ; wouldn't using the DOS command subst nicely fix that "problem"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.28.110.81 ( talk) 23:08, 3 March 2010 (UTC)
You can't "subst" a shell namespace extension. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 212.186.64.47 ( talk) 21:35, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
Yes, Google does not say 'GMail Drive' is banned, nor even 'file storage'. But it does say this:
5.3 You agree not to access (or attempt to access) any of the Services by any means other than through the interface that is provided by Google, unless you have been specifically allowed to do so in a separate agreement with Google. You specifically agree not to access (or attempt to access) any of the Services through any automated means (including use of scripts or web crawlers) and shall ensure that you comply with the instructions set out in any robots.txt file present on the Services.
GMail Drive DOES violate the Terms of Use, and the article should reflect this. -- Jimmetry ( talk) 13:45, 13 January 2011 (UTC)
- Absolutely agreed. If indeed Gmail has this 5.3 Gmail Drive needs to have a separate agreement with Google. Otherwise it obviously violates it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.84.92.197 ( talk) 18:13, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
There also should be a mention of possible Gmail sanctions and the sectionUsing file-sharing or file-storage software, browser3 extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account:
https://support.google.com/mail/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=43692 My account has been locked If we detect abnormal usage that may indicate that your account has been compromised, we may temporarily disable access. It will take between one minute and 24 hours for access to be reinstated, depending on the behavior detected by our system.
Unusual account activity includes, but is not limited to:
Receiving, deleting, or downloading large amounts of mail via POP1 or IMAP2 in a short period of time. If you're getting the error message, 'Lockdown in Sector 4,' you should be able to access Gmail again after waiting 24 hours. Sending a large number of undeliverable messages (messages that bounce back). Using file-sharing or file-storage software, browser3 extensions, or third party software that automatically logs in to your account. Leaving multiple instances of Gmail open. Browser-related issues. Please note that if you find your browser continually reloading while attempting to access your Inbox, it's probably a browser issue, and it may be necessary to clear your browser's cache4 and cookies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 115.84.92.197 ( talk) 18:20, 29 May 2012 (UTC)
