This article is taken, almost verbatim and without acknowledgement, from the introduction to the new Penguin reprint of Green's 'In the Making'. This doesn't seem to me a respectable way to contribute to Wikipedia.

Yes, I was about to say that it seemed to be taken verbatim from Peter Parker's 2012 article about Green for the TLS, but that's saying the same thing, because the TLS was (probably) reprinting Parker's introduction to the Penguin. It seems weird that four footnotes have been added that misleadingly cite a different source altogether.
