The Succession box notes that Kellogg served under president Hoover. This is only technically correct. Hoover was inaugurated on March 4, 1929 and Kellogg's resignation was effective March 28, 1929. It's clear that Kellogg was only keeping the seat warm and the lights on for Stimson. If this is "serving" then I guess we can claim that Kellogg served Hoover.--

Appointment by T. Roosevelt
The article says this:
"During the early 1880s, Theodore Roosevelt appointed Kellogg as a prosecutor in the Justice Department."
That doesn't seem correct: According to the article on Theodore Roosevelt, Roosevelt was serving in the State Assembly of New York in the early 1880s. He had no authority to appoint or nominate someone to the U.S. Department of Justice.

I got no response to the above, so I added the "dubious" tag. The article says he was the Olmsted County attorney from 1882 to 1887, after which he moved to St. Paul. It is unlikely then that he was appointed to the Justice department in the early 1880s. If he was, in fact appointed then, it probably wasn't by Teddy Roosevelt, who became President of the United States in 1901. My guess is "the early 1880s" is where the mistake is.

Thank you for spotting that. The source given at the end of that paragraph supports the statement about the move to Minnesota, but says nothing about his parents. In addition, the names of the parents did not agree with a genealogy website. Since I didn't know how reliable the genealogy site is, I deleted the information about his family.
