The claim which as described you were right to delete probably arose from the fact that the acclaimed inventor of lawn tennis, Major
Walter Clopton Wingfield, had his country home in Rhysnant Hall nearby which has been demolished since his lifetime. However as he lived largely in London after 1870 he probably did not spend time enough to do much here.
Nantclwyd Hall, Denbighshire, has claim to being first place his game was demonstrated.
