Should there be a different title for this article? The current one, Football Manager (1982 Series), is misleading and not really acurate. Only the original Spectrum version of the first game in the series was from 1982... all other ports of that and the 3 sequels were released between 1984 and 1993. I had thought 1980s series would have worked but that doesn't include the last 2 games. What about Football Manager (Addictive Games series) or something similar?

The game appeared on the ZX81 prior to the ZX Spectrum. It lacked any form of graphics, naturally, but was otherwise fairly similar to the Spectrum version. --

Yes, it's misleading, especially when so clearly on Kevin Toms's blog he states that "The first computer for Football Manager was a
Video Genie ... and I made what proved to be a very smart decision to convert the game to run on a ZX81 too". --
