Puerto Rico beat Brazil in Montevideo, Uruguay at the 1988 finals, whoever is changing this to show "Brazil" as the winner please stop, history is history. Go to the FIBA page. --

No, it didn't. Look at the reference, which comes from the Puerto Rican newspaper "The San Juan Star." FIBA's page is wrong. Even the Puerto Rico Basketball Federation will tell you so. Please, you stop making the change.--

I have added the OFFICIAL medal count at the Brasilian Basketball Confederation which shows Brazil as the winner. I have shown a clip from a Puerto Rican newspaper which shows Brazil as the winner. FIBA's page is wrong. Sometimes, this happens. By the way, I'm Puerto Rican, so I think I would not go against my own country. Regards.--

I have requested a third person opinion from a different wikipedia user. This is a question of whether your OFFICIAL source has more validity that my OFFICIAL sourceS. BTW, the link is not dead. If you click it, you'll go to the webpage.--

It seems it was Brazil
[2][3][4][5], they all state clearly that Brazil won the final, with only the FIBA archive saying otherwise. The last link is from the
Nuevo Herald, June 2 1988, 5B Deportes: "Brazil triumphs in preolimpic basketball. Brazil conquered the preolimpic basketball championship after easily defeating Puerto Rico in the finals 101-92..." —

Ok, end of discussion. The sources are now clear and solid. I thought that FIBA´s page (as been part of the official association of basketball in the world) was right, but it has a huge mistake. Incredible for an association as FIBA, but I have to admit that it was wrong. I accept my mistake, I really didn´t have bad intentions... Regards, and sorry. --
