Influences
Is there enough information available to begin an "artists influenced by" section? There are numerous recording artists who have either borrowed from Enya or been influenced by her in some fashion. Arguably the most prominent is Linda Ronstadt, whose 1993 hit,
Heartbeats Accelerating, was done in the style of Enya. Of course there was also the soundtrack to Titanic which has been acknowledged as having been heavily influenced by Enya after she turned down the invitation to write it herself (indeed, listen to Enya's "Book of Days" and then listen to "Southampton" from the soundtrack). Nicki Minaj also talked about Enya's influence during a Colbert appearance.

Legacy and influence
It should be noted that artists as diverse as Nicki Minaj, Lorde, Grimes and Evanescence have listed Enya as an influence, and A Day Without Rain is her biggest selling album to date (It went Platinum 7x over), so shouldn't it be noted that Enya has had an influence on a lot of pop artists? Somebody please mention this in the Enya article already that artists as diverse as Nicki Minaj, Lorde, Grimes and Evanescence have listed Enya as an influence! (

Lack of photograph
There are dozens of pictures of Enya in circulation from the last few decades, including many on her own online presences, but also from concerts (which in most countries are the property of the concert-goer who took them) -- so why is the article of so famous a person still missing even one picture?

Actually, there are thousands of pics in circulation. But only a handful taken at concerts she performed in, since she hasn't done that since 1983. I've tried asking fans to contribute one of their own photos. I've reached out to Simon Fowler (who has done most of her publicity photos over the years) to ask if he would donate one. No luck either way.

That posted picture of her does not do her justice. I see that she is 61 but come on, there are better pictures of her than the one posted.

This picture is absolutely awful. It doesn't even look like her. Better have no picture than this cropped nightmare.

The one up now looks terrible. It's blurry and not suitable for the infobox. Just saying.

Agreed that is not the best, but it's all we have of recent photos of her. The most recent should be in the IB, not something from 35 years ago.
GenQuest"scribble" 07:13, 15 December 2022 (UTC)reply
Yes, but the it's more clear and it wasn't from 25-30 years ago.

I do hope someone can help with the photo issue. The obvious challenge is that there have been few official public events where just anyone could catch a snap, especially recently - and while I hear there are regular sightings in Dalkey and Killiney, as a Dubliner I'd say that most locals would respect the artists's privacy when she's out doing ordinary things like sitting for a meal. But surely someone has something of decent quality that they could donate from some gathering in Donegal, or maybe an old school event?

Another new pic
Is there anyone with the requisite copyright knowledge able to take a look at this (pictured) commons file to try to save it from the trash heap? Thanks,

I've written to the editor who posted it to Commons, and then to the article. I fear it will not hold, as it seems to be a screen-grab from the video output of a very-much active university, and I see no indication of a dedication to the public domain, but maybe they gave consent to Commons via OTRS. I hope so...

Improvement / expansion ideas
Though familiar with Enya's music, I'm new to this article, which hit my radar this week, and which has many editors, but in terms of improvements, I see some real potential with:
as noted above, and gathered into a coherent section, a section on influences
a little more on some albums (respecting the existing specific articles)
a section on studio / recording / instruments: some gathering on the artist's (and the trio's) work on recording, including the iterations of the Aigle Studio (the converted shed, at least twice upgraded, on Danieli Drive in Artane, and the two-storey structure, complete with fancy archway and mountain views, with equipment reputedly hard to match in Ireland). If no objections, I will try to construct a short section on this. Speaking of photos, does anyone have a useable photo of either studio, or even the houses which host(ed) them?
clarification of the secondary school, and maybe the college - these must be known to fans?
And then perhaps this would be a good candidate for Good Article?
The article advances. It would still be good to capture which college Enya attended for a year, and a little on the studios, while Influences is more "nice to have"; a GA bid for this (as for the article on another major Irish artist, Bono) remains a viable potential. One good recent photo still nice to have too, if anyone's around Crolly at the right time.
