I'm trying to write an improved article on Adverbials. The best starting point, I believe, is the distinction between adverbials which are integral clause elements and those which are not. I couldn't find a suitable cross-reference for the notion of Clause element. That subsection Constituents of a clause isn't really focussed enough, and Clause is very general indeed — and Syntactic category even more so. To the best of my ability I've tried to clarify the notion and reconcile the terminologies of the major reference grammars of English. DavidCrosbie ( talk) 03:07, 26 February 2019 (UTC) reply

This article really should ideally be merged into another page. It's trivial enough that I could really do it myself, but non-trivial enough that I don't have the motivation for it. Posting this talk page edit in the hopes that someone with more motivation sees it and follows through, or that I remember later when I feel like tackling it.
