SUNY Empire State University →
Empire State University – I do not believe the current title is a commonly-used name for this university. There was a recent name change when the university transitioned from college status to university status, but I am pretty confident that, at the very least, Empire State University without the "SUNY" in front is more commonly used, along with appearing to be the form
the university itself uses. Other possible titles include the former name of "Empire State College", "SUNY Empire", and "SUNY Empire State College". The lead in both google hits and google news hits appears to go to the title I've proposed the move to, however, in "Empire State University". Skarmory(talk •contribs)01:11, 11 May 2023 (UTC)reply
I wouldn't be opposed to moving to "SUNY Empire", however, and that does keep SUNY in the article title – it's a form that appears to be used by the university itself in some cases (it's mentioned multiple on the university's page linked above). I just don't think "SUNY Empire State University" is the right title, even among SUNY names. Skarmory(talk •contribs)18:52, 14 May 2023 (UTC)reply
I would like to switch my Oppose to a Weak Support. You do prove a very good point with the other universities. Personally, I think they should all include “SUNY” — but as this is unlikely to change, for the sake of logic, I definitely am going to go ahead and take back my opposition of the suggested move.
