Would anyone support the idea of a "List of Emirates", like Bukhara, Khiva...? Chris 21:50, 11 December 2005 (UTC)
So please don't attribute emirates as based on or from Islam. literally the word in arabic means governate (Imarah), ruled by a governor (Amir) which could mean any province in any form of government, theological or not Aaliyah Stevens 22:39, 22 January 2007 (UTC)
This article should be split in at least to two pages: one about the medieval vassal states (under the Islamic caliphate) and one about the local kingdoms after that which were called Emirate. Alefbe ( talk) 01:12, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
