If you get into the Erasmus Prize Page, you'll see that Romano Guardini won the award some years before. This makes Schillebeeckx at least the second theologian to win the award.

I agree that the statement is incredibly dubious. Martin Buber won the award decades before and his work in mysticism and theology, particularly Jewish theology, has been incredibly influential. I study theology and Buber is looked at about as much as Barth or Bultmann or anyone else. I really don't see how the statement in the article does any justice to Schillebeeckx or the Erasmus prize.
