The article and the grade chart suggests that there is a thing called "intermediate school" which can go from as early as 3rd grade to 6th grade. There's no sources corroborating that; a QGS shows that "intermediate school" is an interchangeable term with either middle school or junior high (perhaps a consensus term for systems which change over time from middle school format to junior high format).
