My understanding is that ripples are small deposits of material that are to small to be called dunes, when they become larger they are called dunes.

@
Hardyplants: Yeah, I am seeing some sources that say things like that, but yet again, I don't see that on this page (except in the picture caption "Wind ripples on crescent-shaped sand") nor do I clearly see it anywhere online (I'm a Wikipedian not a desert ripple scientist). Could you add some of your knowledge about ripples to this page? Haha. Thanks for your response anyway.

I am not a "desert ripple scientist" either, I live on a kettle lake so know more about continental glacial landforms than desert ones. I added some information on ripples and a few refs, still needs to be fleshed out. There is no hard and fast rule that distinguishes large ripples from small dunes. Dunes and ripples very often occur on the same terrain, so an area maybe described with ripples and dunes on maps. As a side note I do have a fossilized stream ripple bed in my rock collection.

Are more citations needed?
I've deleted a More citations needed template from the page - there seem to be plenty of citations. Are there statements that are missing citations?
