"a unique style of storytelling that sets this work apart from many science fiction novels."
Zelazny was good, and this is a good novel, but unique seems a little optimistic. I'm no expert on styles of storytelling, but I expect someone can find an old master who used it. Midgley 23:56, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
Seems like the plot summary should mention the Starstone/Speicus in the last part. Milkfish 23:25, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
Robert A. Heinlein's character Zebadiah J Carter in The Number of the Beast was a perpetual inhabitant of a university, though post-graduate.
Many people are perpetual inhabitants of universities. Is there some other correlation? If not, I suggest this be deleted for irrelevence. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.34.156.186 ( talk) 03:05, 17 March 2007 (UTC).
I'm not a terrible nitpicker, I hope, but this line is off. Fred and the starstone communicate when he is drunk becuase it is a symetrical molecule that spans the problem of Fred being right handed and the Starstone being left handed (or one based on L-forms and the other on R-forms). When inverted via the machine the Starstone is completly activated becuase of it's inversion. Previously it had only been partially activated in the presence of a symetrical molecule. Unfortunatly, the change of the stone from an R-form to an L-form, via the machine, coincides with Fred's flip the other way. If only one had flipped things would be fine, but L-starstone is no more able to communicate with R-Fred than R-Starstone could communicate with L-Fred. The social lubricant is still needed. Someone more nerd than I needs to fix this. IF this wasn't an important story point I would ignore it, but, alas, it is. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.191.157.40 ( talk) 05:46, 16 July 2008 (UTC)

This is the longest and most amazingly redundant wikipedia article I have ever read. Something like 90% of it should be removed. That's after you remove the half that has nothing at all to do with the novel. MikeR613 ( talk) 23:19, 7 June 2018 (UTC)
