– Articles were recently renamed from the understandable "Royal Thai Air Force Base" to the obscure abbreviation "RTAFB". This is in violation of
WP:ACRONYMTITLE. It is also neither recognizable nor natural per
WP:Article titles, since the general reader will have no idea what an RTAFB is. A quick browse through Google Books shows that the abbreviation is not overwhelmingly common, and when used, it is almost always accompanied by the full term at first occurrence. The names also appear in the form "Don Muang RTAFB" rather than "RTAFB Don Muang". Suggest that these articles revert to their former names.

Comment why "x RTAFB" instead of "RTAFB x" ordering? If you look a military sites, they are "Fort X", not "X fort", "Camp Y", not "Y camp", "Firebase Z", not "Z firebase"... --

Support as per nom. The recently-adopted name was not achieved through discussion or consensus that I know of; IMO it doesn't look natural. The long-standing name should be reverted to until a consensus had been made for a wholesale change.

Comment In response to 76.x, "Camp Y" instead of "Y Camp" depends on naming convention. See
Pasir Laba Camp in contrast to the American convention of
Camp Humphreys. As to the main issue, this naming convention is used by at least some countries. For example, see
CFB Goose Bay,
RAF Mount Pleasant. I believe
Barksdale Air Force Base may be referred to as
Barksdale AFB by those in service too, as an American example. So, should these abbreviations be spelled out in full?
Wikipedia:ACRONYMTITLE indicates that it should. Whatever the decision, it should be applied consistently. That being the case, this talk page is probably not the best forum for the discussion. --
