"They have a strange obsession with butts"... No, they don't. They just show a rather childish sense of potty humour and find everything amusing that has got to do with bodily functions like farting, belching and so on. And they find it hilarious if somebody gets hurt or almost hurt. If you'd watched the short films it would be evident, although there are bits enough in both movies and the after/in credit sequences to prove this too... -- 37.24.226.126 ( talk) 14:20, 10 November 2013 (UTC)
It is correct that Minions (2015) is prequel Prequel or Spin Off?-- Shinobilanterncorps ( talk) 23:09, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Gru has a Russian accent and the GRU (Glavnoye Razvedyvatel'noye Upravleniye) is the main military foreign-intelligence service of the Russian Federation, and formerly of the Soviet Union. Is this a coincidance? - nagytibi ! ? 10:10, 20 July 2014 (UTC)
the Minions are practically their own thing now, being featured on the cover of all DM DVDs and Blu Rays, having their own movie, having more merchandise than even Gru himself, and even having their popularity reach a point that many find annoying. 165.120.185.223 ( talk) 14:53, 7 April 2016 (UTC)
Are the Minions notable enough to have their own article? I think so because it happens to just be everywhere around the world and known just about everywhere, and appears to have a very high number of people knowing such characters. I have also made a draft at User:Qwertyxp2000/Minions (characters) so that you all can improve on it. I hope we get to make a brilliant article to expand the knowledge of Wikipedia! The article states "The Minions mostly speak their own creole language called "Minionese", which is partly derived from French, English, Italian, Spanish and Hindi language." The sources don't support this.
The production notes state Minions are "gibberish-speaking" and their language "is gibberish (with) words from many languages", mentioning French as one.
The second source, a Hollywood Reporter article] says, "In providing the voice of the Minions, Coffin uses words from languages including French, English, Spanish and Italian."
Problems with our statement:
Basically, the sources say: The Minions speak a language that the voice actor created by mixing gibberish with words from many languages, including French, English, Spanish and Italian. - SummerPhD v2.0 13:14, 27 April 2016 (UTC)
To User:2601:601:1501:73d8:c9a0:4b53:6920:5dd5's question, Mr. Perkins does appear in the film Minions, though it is just a brief scene. As the proof, you can look up a screenshot in the article about Mr. Perkins in Despicable Me Wiki (Wikia site). - George6VI ( talk) 06:24, 6 December 2016 (UTC)
Mention if Dr. Nefario is loosely based on Dr. Strangelove.
Is there going to be a television series? Because I loved the Despicable Me characters (especially the Minions), and I wanted a Despicable Me television series. Is Pierre Coffin and Chris Renaud reprising their roles as the yellow humanoids?
Is there going to be Despicable Me holiday special? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.77.117.216 ( talk) 23:27, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

– After five films (three main films and two spin-off prequel films), 14 short films, three video games, a holiday television special, and a theme park ride, I do not think the first film is the primary topic, but the franchise as whole. Chompy Ace 09:51, 29 November 2020 (UTC)
When are you going to make a Despicable me 4 article,
Can you please what the plot of the Rise of Gru film is, and why is it going to be released on July 1, 2022? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.108.237.114 ( talk) 19:29, 23 March 2021 (UTC)
A list of the Despicable Me video games should be here, such as the iconic Minion Rush! 74.132.203.31 ( talk) 22:18, 7 October 2023 (UTC)

The movie is what birthed this franchise. The Secret Life of Pets (franchise) article isn't named The Secret Life of Pets and the film article isn't named The Secret Life of Pets (film). The same should apply here if that makes sense. 1ArcticDude ( talk) 23:53, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Initially, the Minions 2D shorts were produced to support the Minions 2 movie, which was delayed by a year due to COVID-19 restrictions in movie theaters. The shorts were named “Minions and Friends” in China and “Saturday Morning Minions” in the United States. They were first released on China’s Migu platform and later on Illumination’s YouTube channel.
The shorts were later renamed to Minions and Friends (小黄人和萌友/小黄人与格鲁日记).
Several episodes exclusive to the Chinese market haven’t aired in Western territories. These episodes have promotional tie-ins with Chinese brands and are unavailable to watch in the U.S.
Several episodes cross over with the Secret Life of Pets world. These shorts only aired in China.
Title cards were produced for each episode, but were removed later for Western markets. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:84:8D80:C4E0:E428:7850:B471:DAA ( talk) 16:18, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
