==Solar car team==
This page states that Delhi College of Engineering created a solar race vehicle. Would whoever has the details of this project please enter the relevant information into the List of solar car teams page. The DCE vehicle would apparently be the first solar racing vehicle from India. Bry9000 ( talk) 21:17, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Someone from the current batch at DCE needs to add more information, pics etc. on the New Campus. Needs information on batch strength, faculty, clubs etc. ~ Sanjoy

I wanted to discuss why there is a talk of Netaji Subash Institute of Technology (NSIT) in the admissions section. The no of seats mentioned here as 1218 sound confusing. Are they the total seats for both the colleges ? I think we should mention the total no of seats at both the colleges : Delhi College of Engineering : 1218 http://admissions.aglasem.com/?p=8312 Netaji Subash Institute of Technology : 619 http://admissions.aglasem.com/?p=9705 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aanshuc ( talk • contribs) 06:37, 26 February 2012 (UTC)
I wanted to bring to your notice that Sushant Singh Rajput is not an alumnus of DCE. It is true that at one time he was studying at DCE, but he dropped out of the college midway to pursue a different career. http://www.india-forums.com/forum_posts.asp?TID=1405119 If you can find some other source as well, please validate the same. Instead I have added a few others, please check .. Also we have an Alumni Association http://dcealumni.org/, should we add information regarding it in the Alumni Association section ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aanshuc ( talk • contribs) 08:43, 3 March 2012 (UTC)
Another editor is insistently removing current ranking and replacing them with older ones without giving any reasoning. Please discuss here. -- Muhandes ( talk)
Dear Muhandes, neither I am removing current ranking nor replacing them with older ones. I am not even putting up any promotional content. I am correcting a misrepresented data. If you notice the webpage of career360 which you have used to give rank of DTU, you will realise that it does not list the ranking of "engineering" colleges. You can carefully go through the list at http://www.university.careers360.com/colleges/ranking/2017 and cross-check for your ownself how many among them are engineering institutes. Also you can check the title. Next, I had uploaded ranking of 3 years: latest being 2017, and even of 2016 and 2015. NIRF ranking is the other one, which again is comparison of universities not of engineering institutes. This (NIRF ranking) is well debated and quite understood in both academia and industry in India. You can have some of the quick reads at: https://www.quora.com/What-is-your-opinion-about-recent-NIRF-ranking https://www.quora.com/Is-NIRF-ranking-worth-true-and-considering You can read other related questions and answers as well. And following are even the department-wise national ranking of DTU: http://pickacollege.digit.in/search/result?mode=search&p[]=facets.stream=Electrical%20and%20electronics&p[]=facets.stream=Electronics%20and%20communcation http://pickacollege.digit.in/search/result?mode=search&p[]=facets.stream=Manufacturing%20engineering&p[]=facets.stream=Mechanical&p[]=facets.stream=Mechatronics http://pickacollege.digit.in/search/result?mode=search&p[]=facets.stream=Computer%20science&p[]=facets.stream=Information%20technology http://pickacollege.digit.in/search/result?mode=search&p[]=facets.stream=Civil which is consistently 12. Hence, the above data and the links I have posted in the corrected content show that rank 72 reported by career360 is incorrect. Also to just misrepresent data to dishonour an institute and term the correction as promotional is also not ethical. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gauravdce07 ( talk • contribs) 17:25, 28 June 2017 (UTC) And at following link you can compare how ranking determined by career360 has consistently been an outlier w.r.t. other systems: /info/en/?search=Indian_engineering_college_rankings,_2015 Hence, I have a strong reason to remove career360 data which I again repeat is not even for comparing engineering institutes. Therefore, I updated this section with more concrete and comprehensive data.
So yes, everything you do point out very clearly to promotion. Are you somehow related to DTU? You seem to work for them. -- Muhandes ( talk) 19:22, 28 June 2017 (UTC)
Dear Muhandes,
I am not trying to promote, but rather bring to your notice the discrepancy and the lack of validity of career360. Just because it ranks a particular institute very low it doesn't make it a neutral source of ranks. Let me give you couple of examples:
See Career360 Link:
(a)
http://www.university.careers360.com/colleges/ranking/2017 --> List Universities (includes everything like medical, agriculture, arts, commerce, science, etc)
and
(b)
http://www.engineering.careers360.com/colleges/ranking/2017 --> Lists Engineering Colleges (all types: private, government and public-private)
and compare the data of Ranking of 4 key colleges which are have same reputation. Also note how different sources and how even incorrect data from those sources is used to report ranks on wikipedia:
(1)
/info/en/?search=Netaji_Subhas_Institute_of_Technology#Rankings
(a)-->Not Listed (b)-->Rank 64 What wikipedia reports is from outlook --> Rank 8
(2) /info/en/?search=Birla_Institute_of_Technology_and_Science#Rankings
(a)-->42 over all and 3rd among private institutes (b)-->40 What wikipedia reports is "Among all universities in India it was ranked 3rd by Careers360 in 2017"
(3) /info/en/?search=Delhi_Technological_University#Rankings_.3D
(a)-->73 over all and 64 among government institutes (b)-->36 What wikipedia reports is "DTU was ranked 72 by Careers360's Top Universities in India 2017, 64 among government institutes"
(4) /info/en/?search=Indian_Institute_of_Technology_Guwahati#Rankings
(a)-->22 (b)-->31 and wikipedia indeed says "Careers360 ranked it 22 in India"
(5) /info/en/?search=Indian_Institute_of_Technology_Roorkee
(a)-->10 (b)-->25
Now, I don't know if you are from India or not, but you can ask any Indian engineering student or anybody even in hiring process for engineers, is it even possible for IIT-Roorkee and IIT-Guwahati to be below private institutes like SASTRA, SSN, Thiagarajar and new IITs like IIT-Indore etc and institutes like BMS and Manipal over BITS Pilani !!! Hence, there are following problems in what you are doing: 1. You are not quoting from a neutral source, you are quoting from a completely bogus source. 2. The information on wikipedia is incorrect despite of quoting from the respective sources. 3. You have accused me of promotional content and while the problem is that you have taken my corrections to your ego unless of course you are being paid by career360 to use their sources on all wikipedia pages related to college ranks. 4. Furthermore, you are repeatedly putting up a table with only part of the data w.r.t. accompanying text. See more comprehensive tables e.g. for BITs Pilani, VIT Vellore, IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, etc. 5. I was adding ranks for 3 years and had planned to do it for all universities because it is more insightful for the reader. But instead of understanding that you got personal just because I corrected your content!!! Anyhow, I have not modified your content now because anyways you will revert back to old content since it hurts your ego, but hope you can learn some ethics and professionalism before modifying content on wikipedia and misleading readers. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gauravdce07 ( talk • contribs) 09:39, 29 June 2017 (UTC)
(1) Per this "S. No.(Serial Number) This is a way of listing the colleges. Note: S. No. Does not represent ranking of the college." 64 is not a ranking it is a serial number. Careers360 gives NSIT a rating of "AAAA". I added it to the article, though I never liked the inclusion of rating.
(2) Good catch, I corrected 3 to 42, 3 among private only. As above 40 is not a rating, it is a serial number
(3) I missed that one, corrected 72 to 73. As above, 36 is an a serial number, not a ranking.
(4) As above, 31 is a serial number.
(5) Same
1. I may agree or not, it is still WP:OR. The fact is that de facto consensus is to use Careers360, and in Wikipedia we go by consensus. If you want to change the consensus, post at WP:INEI. Give good enough arguments, and I will even support you.
2. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I corrected the errors you pointed out. If you have more, either correct them yourself, or post at my talk page and I will correct them.
3. Don't be ridiculous. Read my user page and look at my list of contributions. I am completely neutral and have no relation to any institute in India. How about you?
4. WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. I try to be as comprehensive as I can but if any current ranking is missing, either add it or post at my talk page and I will add it.
5. Again, de facto consensus is against it and I personally think it is a bad idea. Seek new consensus at WP:INEI.
