The acronym Drug Addicts Yielding TOPersuasion does not appear on their web site. It appears to be a fabrication. If you are the author please provide a source citation.

From what I have read about Joe Ricci and Elan School, Daytop sounds very similar in terms of manipulating and brainwashing people - as well as kidnapping students who ran away from Elan and returning them. This article makes it sound like there is nothing remotely controversial about Daytop. — Preceding
