There needs to be a sentence explaining what the "oath clause" actually did. Presumably it made it possible for child victims to give evidence in court, but it doesn't say so. Please clarify.
It's commonly claimed that the bill omits lesbianism because Queen Victoria didn't believe it existed. AFAIK that's a myth, but it comes up often enough that it might be worth explicitly answering this story and explaining the actual reasons. -- Calair 00:15, 6 January 2007 (UTC)
Cool article :) Just wondering how to punctuate this sentence for greater clarity: Social Purity groups like the Society for the Suppression of Vice and Feminists led by Josephine Butler focused on the evils of child prostitution as the chief factor in the sexual exploitation of the young.
Do we mean: Social Purity groups like 'the Society for the Suppression of Vice and Feminists', led by Josephine Butler, focused on the evils of child prostitution as the chief factor in the sexual exploitation of the young.

Sadly my ignorance means I can't repunctuate without help! 79.66.56.21 ( talk) 18:14, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

would someone be interested in checking the cited sources from the Natonal Archives and UK Parliament Archives in the Salvation Army article and consider adding them? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Adrian816 ( talk • contribs) 01:08, 11 April 2018 (UTC)
I couldn't find this Act on the UK Legislation site, searching for "Criminal Law Amendment Act". It found an 1867 Act, and a couple of 20th-century Northern Ireland Acts only. I've added a link to a copy of its text, but can anybody find an "official" link? Best wishes, Pol098 ( talk) 12:35, 25 August 2021 (UTC)
