Is this Cooking Channel a rebrand of or a replacement for SexTV: The Channel?
User:Northwest stated in their edit summary
here that the channel is a rebrand, but the article states in the "As Cooking Channel" section that W Movies would be replaced by a Canadian version of Cooking Channel
, citing
this source, which states Cooking Channel will take the place of W Movies on the dial in Canada. That channel, which was rebranded from SexTV: The channel in 2010, reported ...
. The source also states Cooking Channel will launch on Dec. 12.
The source seems to indicate that W Movies was a rebrand of SexTV, but the Cooking Channel is a true replacement of the channel. I'm inclined to think the difference is more than just semantics—a "replacement" implies that the entire theme of the channel is changing, whereas a "rebrand" implies that the content of the channel is not radically changing, just the name. In this case, it seems more like a replacement to me—I can't see how turning a channel about sexuality into a channel about cooking could be seen as a "rebrand". If it is a replacement, I would be inclined to move this page back to W Movies and create a whole new article for Cooking Channel (Canada) from scratch. Mz7 ( talk) 05:04, 22 December 2016 (UTC)
