Merger proposal

I propose to merge Code of the Nesilim into Hittite laws. The content in the Code of the Nesilim refers to the same ancient legal code as the one referred to in Hittite laws. Nesilim (with a pseudo-Semitic pluralization) is not the Hittites' name for themselves; nešili means only "in the speech of teh city of Nesa" (an important city during the early stages of the Hittite Old Kingdom). Likewise, there is no support in the Hittite texts which might allow us to refer to the Hittites as Nesians. We don't know how the Hittites referred to themselves. The conventional name " Hittites" is due to their initial identification with the Biblical Hittites in 19th century archaeology. Terminology should conform to standards used elsewhere in Wikipedia such as in Hittite language. Eklir ( talk) 19:40, 28 May 2021 (UTC) reply
