The last chief is said to have joined the British Amry to fight in the American War in 1778 at age 68. He is then said to have died in 1818 at age 103. Obviously he was either 110 when he died or 63 when he joined the army. One of these dates and ages is wrong. BeeTea 18:52, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
I propose the article be moved to Clan Macquarrie (small q) because this is the way the clan is spelt on the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs website.-- Celtus ( talk) 07:41, 23 April 2008 (UTC)
The Clan MacQuarrie Society website has a partial transcription of the book Clan MacQuarrie - A History, by R. W. Munro and Alan Macquarrie [1]. The book was written in the 90s. Munro has authored several biographies for the ODNB and a history of the Munros; Macquarrie has taught history at Glasgow University, and has authored several academic publications [2]. From skimming through it, it seems to me that the most of the Kenneth MacAlpin stuff, the Siol Alpin stuff, and the 'one of the oldest clans' statements, should be culled from the article.-- Brianann MacAmhlaidh ( talk) 09:43, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
