Christ University is no longer called as such. It is now known as Christ (deemed to be university). Please change the title.
Exactly, it was an actual controversy and involved legal issues, yet the title still remains, it is deceiving the general public Idk2035 ( talk) 17:32, 28 April 2020 (UTC)

Christ University →
Christ (Deemed to be University) – The university's website
https://christuniversity.in/ uses the new name. Another editor feels that using the new name would go against naming policy. Two previous moves to the new name have been reversed. Under Indian law, a
deemed university has most of the privileges of being a full-fledged university without actually being one, so I think the distinction is a valid one.

BrownHairedGirl Mysore State was a state within the Dominion and the later Republic of India from its formation in 1947, out of the territories of the Kingdom of Mysore, until 1956[1] with Bangalore as its capital. The state was considerably enlarged in 1956 when it became a linguistically homogeneous Kannada-speaking state[2] within the Union of India. It was subsequently renamed as the state of Karnataka.
Please revert the category to either Bangalore or India. Mysore is factually wrong.

Hello fellow editors,
I've observed that there appears to be a concerted effort, possibly by individuals associated with Christ University, to remove negative or controversial content from its Wikipedia page. Notably, the entire "Controversies" section, which included critical information about incidents such as student suicide due to sexual assault and allegations of sexual misconduct by university staff, has been deleted.
It is essential to maintain a balanced and comprehensive view of the university's history, including its controversies. These incidents, unfortunately part of the university's history, are well-documented in reliable sources and have had a significant impact on the institution's reputation and stakeholder relationships.
According to Wikipedia's guidelines, specifically WP:NPOV (Neutral Point of View) and WP:VERIFIABILITY, content that is notable and can be backed by reliable, secondary sources should be included in the article, provided it is written in a neutral tone. Moreover, WP:NOTCENSORED emphasizes that Wikipedia should not avoid presenting information due to its controversial nature or potential criticism.
Given these considerations, I propose that the deleted content be reviewed and, if it meets Wikipedia's standards for notability and verifiability, be reinstated to ensure the article provides a full and unbiased account of Christ University's history.
Would like to hear thoughts from other community members on this matter. PotatoCyborg ( talk) 16:17, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Hi. After careful examination of the article's history and past discussions, I believe that most of the Controversies section should be removed. Based on my understanding of
WP:NOTNEWS, minor incidents should not be included. Pretty much every incident mentioned in the section can be summarized like this: John Doe speaks against the school, the school responds, ... and that's it. No
lasting effects. Secondly, to quote PotatoCyborg, According to Wikipedia's guidelines, specifically WP:NPOV (Neutral Point of View) ... provided it is written in a neutral tone. The article in its current state is not. Take the "Higher cut-off for female students" section as an example: the article currently states This decision was seen by many as a way to penalise female students for their academic achievements.Says who? The news story cited only gives examples of 4 parents, with no mention of 'penalise'. Therefore, I believe the Controversies section should not be included. '''[[ User:CanonNi]]''' ( talk • contribs) 11:01, 19 May 2024 (UTC) |
Here is a new draft: incidents without long-term significance removed and minor incidents shortened while maintaining NPOV. Dear editors, please add or remove content as you see fit, or suggest any further edits to improve this draft to align with the consensus of the talk page. PotatoCyborg ( talk)
In July 2013, a 19-year-old student at Christ University reportedly attempted suicide on campus, allegedly due to harassment by a National Cadet Corps (NCC) officer. The student's family filed a complaint, leading to the officer's arrest under Section 354 of the Indian Penal Code. The university conducted an internal investigation in response to the incident. [1] [2]
In June 2021, a female student accused a proctor of inappropriate behavior during an online examination, sharing screenshots where the proctor addressed her as "baby." The incident gained significant attention on social media. The university formed a committee to investigate the matter, despite not receiving formal complaints from students. [3] [4]
In 2016, students at Christ University protested against the institution's strict regulations, including an 85% attendance requirement and a dress code perceived by some as sexist. The protests were partly sparked by the university's handling of attendance during a bus strike and the dismissal of a professor who questioned university policies. [5] [6] [7] [8] [9]
In May 2019, reports emerged that Christ University had set higher cut-off marks for female students applying to pre-university courses. The university stated that the decision aimed to balance gender representation, but some critics argued it penalized female students for their academic achievements. [10] [11] [12]
