IMHO this article teems with grammatical inexactitude. The ide suffix is used to indicate a chemical compound. A lot of the time "chloride" is used when it should be "chlorine". "Chloride" can be used as a generic reference to a compound that contains chlorine, but there is no such thing as an element with the name of "chloride". "Chloride ion" implies the compound has an ion, when what is intended is a chlorine ion. — Preceding
