I'm not particulary interested in the matter since both Carly and Carlito are very common, although the latter was used for a year more than Carlito has been used. However, "Carlito" alone is not a good search item, that's like looking up "Carlos", now "Carlito + wrestler" is bringing back
1.4m hits. -

Oppose - his father is a famous wrestler under the Colón name and he has wrestled in his father's notable promotion as Carly Colón. I believe this should stay the same just as Glen Jacobs and Paul Wight stayed as is. --

Snowy Oppose - then why are you suggesting it again? This has been discussed like less than a month ago. Will bring in quantifier.--SRX21:17, 28 September 2008 (UTC)reply
He has been refered to as Carlito Colon. Even the WWE Tag Title History lists them as "Carlito and Primo Colon" the same way they would someone like "Matt and Jeff Hardy". The name plate on his belt also said Carlito Colon.

He has absolutley been refered to as Carlito Colón. But even then, he is much more commonly known as Carlito than Carly. So I support a move.

With so many divergent oppinions on names why not cut through the mess and put him at "Carlos Colón, Jr." since that's his birthname? Carly, Carlito and any other variation could then easily be redirects and thus solve all the problems in one instance instead of 3-4-5 different "move suggestions"??

I have heard them say Carlito Colon, but with so much disagreement over the issue why not go with MPJ-DK and name the article Carlos Colón, Jr.?

I agree. Considering that Carly and Carlito are both diminutive forms of his real name, Carlos. Then the article can just mention the nicknames and go from there.

Jim Ross has recently been calling him the "San Juan Southpaw" as a sort of nickname. Should we add it? -

Something wrong with the "The Colóns and Split" section of Carlto's article
Is Carlito truly released from WWE and to transfer to TNA? That edit was made by IP 220.245.132.118. Any comfirmation if this is true? If it's not I can undo the edit and any of you Wikipedia admins can do your stuff.

I've added that his subsequent refusal to attend rehab was a factor in his release, as WWE policy is not to release contracted performers on their first offence as well as it being noted in the cited article.

– These articles have been misplaced for a long time. Carlos Colón's
most common name is unquestionably "Carlitos Colón". He became a household name in Puerto Rico under that name and still uses it today. He used his real name when working NWA and WWF shows in the United States because it was easier to pronounce in English, but his notability was mostly garnered as being the face of professional wrestling in Puerto Rico. Carlito used to go by "Carly" in WWC before he signed with WWE, but ever since he gained widespread international attention as "Carlito", he's exclusively used that name everywhere he goes, including back home in Puerto Rico, where he's known was "
Carlito Colón". Clearly, this should be the correct article title as per
WP:COMMONNAME and
WP:NATDAB. Any confusion with his father's similar ring name can be settled with a hatnote as per
WP:SIMILAR. Lastly, both Carlito and Primo used the "Colón" surname while they tagged together in WWE and Primo also used it during his initial singles run. Primo also continues to use it when he works WWC a few times a year. Per
WP:NATDAB, "Primo Colón" is the best title for his article. Feedback 00:34, 22 April 2016 (UTC) --Relisted.George Ho (

Comment on Carlos, Sr. – I question the wisdom of this rationale. We appear to be putting the weight on how he's marketed in one particular promotion simply because that promotion is where he's best known. Once again we're subtly pushing the POV that the person doesn't matter, only the promotions they work for, which is especially evident in many of this most recent wave of RMs. This is the English-language Wikipedia. If I have my Spanish correct, "Carlitos" means "Little Carlos". That term could mean something in Puerto Rico, but I doubt it means anything anywhere else in the world. He also made a handful of tours for All Japan over many years, where he was billed as "Carlos".

If I was "pushing the POV that the person doesn't matter, only the promotions they work for", then I would be advocating for
Carlos Colón, because that's how WWE, the biggest wrestling promotion in the world, has called him in his handful of appearances. Instead, we are focusing on the person. Carlos wrestled the bulk of his career as "Carlitos Colón" and gained most of his notability and notoriety under that name. The name is indeed in Spanish, but I don't see what point you're trying to make with that observation. Carlitos is to Little Carlos, what Johnny is to Little John. They're not the same, despite having similar nicknaming purposes. If Carlos' most common name was "Little Carlos", I would suggest moving him there, no different than
Little John or
Little Richard. Whether or not this is an English Wikipedia, we have to accept that most of his substantial coverage is by Spanish Latin-American sources, and even the most recent ones still refer to him as "Carlitos Colón". See
here,
here,
here and
here. If we give any undue weight to his small amount of appearances in other promotions, that's when we will be giving more importance to the promotion than the person. Feedback18:32, 3 May 2016 (UTC)reply
I don't think that "Carlitos Colón" is really that common outside Puerto Rico, but the "one particular promotion" where he is known as that is his own. That is probably the way that he prefers to be called, or otherwise he wouldn't voluntarily use it as his own ring name for several decades. I don't mind the other two, unlike the first time that "Carlito Colón" was proposed (back at WWE, when he was never called that name) Carly has been using that ring name in the independents. In Puerto Rico he is still widely known as Carly, but he has been using the old Carlito Caribbean Cool (I don't think that he uses his last name in WWC) gimmick for several years, probably one of the few places where he still uses it. About Primo, even when WWE shortened his ring name, they still made constant comments discussing how he is the son of "the great Carlos Colón", it is still part of his gimmick. -
Caribbean~H.Q.05:15, 8 May 2016 (UTC)reply
Oppose moving Carlos. - Best known to a worldwide audience as Carlos Colón. This is the name he used when he made the appearances that were seen by the most people (WWE Hall of Fame induction, 1993 Royal Rumble, etc.). Support moving Carly to
Carlito (wrestler) (note: not Carlito Colón), as that is the name he appears to have used during his most notable appearances (i.e. his extended run in WWE). Neutral on Primo, as I don't watch wrestling and don't know when he stopped using the last name as his ring name.

issues
These are my issues with the last editions. @
Old School WWC Fan: included a lot of content in the wrestler career during the last 20 days. However, I removed because the content has several probelms. 1, it's
WP:UNSOURCED. 2, it's no notable or relevant for the article,
WP:INDISCRIMINATE. 3, it's not written in
WP:PROSE. It's just a list of every pro wrestling promotion he worked, unsourced, poorly written (not like other articles covering the independent career of the wrestler) and most of them, aren't notable, just local promotion which shows aren't even covered by pro wrestling media. That part doesn't follow several policies and I can't include the content in a better way. I can include thing like working on Italy's Wrestling Superstars or wrestling for the PPW Television title since aren't relevant. No other article includes a career like that with every promotion a wrestler appeared. --

HHH Pedrigree: I think that a lot of his independent appearances can be cleared and we need the space if he gets rehired by WWE. The reaction that IWA-PR had to him signing with WWE, or them playing their fans during the Colón v. Colón angle are interesting, but should be moved to a much needed article on the WWC-IWA-PR rivalry. The issues brought in the GAR are logical and should be dealt with to get this piece back to where it was. Or finally push it to FA. But Prwrestling should be in
WP:PW/RS, if only for Puerto Rico results. Also, it’s about time that we move this to Carlito Colón.

Delist: Agreed, this BLP needs more sources. It has also grown from 2,067 words (in 2007) to 8,225 words, so most of the article is unchecked against GA standards.
