I revised it based on my Stats Can research. See the citation I provided.
I checked the citation previously provided for the higher number, but I was unable to find 3,649 on that web page. http://www12.statcan.gc.ca/nhs-enm/2011/dp-pd/prof/details/page.cfm?Lang=E&Geo1=CSD&Code1=5951022&Data=Count&SearchText=Burns%20Lake&SearchType=Begins&SearchPR=01&A1=All&B1=All&TABID=1
If I am wrong, let's discuss and revise. Peter K Burian ( talk) 21:25, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
Here is a 2016 news item with a 2015 estimate... even lower Burns Lake's was 1,829, down 153 people; Hall is trying to get more information on how B.C. Stats arrives at its numbers.
According to an emailed statement from B.C. Stats, they take the most recent federal census figures, from 2011, and looks at various indicators - notably BC Hydro connections and B.C. health client registry numbers in the case of small population communities - to come up with estimates. http://www.princegeorgecitizen.com/news/local-news/prince-george-is-shrinking-1.2161595#sthash.cx87VdOb.dpuf Peter K Burian ( talk) 21:42, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
The Town website also uses the 3,649 number; probably got it from Wikipedia as so many small web sites do. Of course, it was wrong. Cheers! Peter K Burian ( talk) 23:19, 27 January 2017 (UTC)
