The cited link for the platforms has conflicting information. The table at "Product Releases" mentions Linux and Mac releases, but under 2K announcements ("Business and Product Highlights") neither platform is mentioned.

No, it means, in this instance, that the events of the main story take place after the events of the original game and before the events of Borderlands 2, though cut-scenes at the beginning and end of the game show Athena being interrogated posts Borderlands 2.
