Let's get this straight. At 30, she became abbess; then the church discovered she and another nun were lovers, and she was kept under guard for the next 50 years. 30+50=80. But she lived 1591-1661. So she was 70 years old when she died. Can't be. According to the publisher's weekly review of the book Immodest Acts which you can read on the Amazon page for the book (
http://www.amazon.com/Immodest-Acts-Renaissance-History-Sexuality/dp/0195042255
) "Carlini lost her position and was imprisoned for 35 years."

Nominalism
The internal link towards Nominalism has no explanation of the relevance of Nominalism to theology.
Maybe the Carlini article should better explain how Nominalism played a role here?

Using the term "lesbian" comes strictly from the idea of a personal belief. Proof to express that claim. Many claim that she wasn't in an article call Queer Saints and Martyrs (and Others)
Some sources express her birth year is 1590. Prodigals By Jackson Skewers [sources]
The quote should be added around the life sections since it the summary of what was in the Judith brown immodest acts

There is no evidence that the
black dog article linked has anything to do with Benedetta's experience. The article is about an English legend. A Wikilink here is not appropriate as there is no apparent tie in. Maybe it should be referenced in a footnote.

What is the harm in linking to an article explaining the black dog motif, as it relates to myth and legend? I linked it because I knew that the image of a black dog is common in myth, and wanted to know more. It would have been useful to me (and others like me) reading the article to have that direct wikilink, instead of having to search and then dig through a disambig page to find it. My point was that this article did not explain the relevance of that particular instance. I'll put it back, but you should consider fixing either the Benedetta explanation or the black dog article.
