Merge suggestion

I found another article started at Beekman Place Tower and think they should be merged. Disambiguation is required maybe in hatnotes here because of the Beekman Tower (former Panhellenic Tower) of 1927 - 1929 [1] which was the beginning of this article. But both pages have become about the Gehry skyscraper. I considered maybe that the earlier tower should be here and the Gehry kept at Beekman Place Tower, yet "Beekman Place Tower" gets only 4 pages on a google search (mostly wikis) so maybe not it doesn't seem to go by that name on the web. Maybe the information on the original Beekman Tower should be moved to Beekman Tower Hotel and the Gehry skyscraper should stay here at Beekman Tower with disambig hatnotes. I definitely agree that the two articles should be disaggregated. Maybe the best way to do it is to list them as Beekman Tower (date) and Beekman Tower (later date). Or we can go with Beekman (Panhellenic) Tower vs. Beekman Tower (Gehry). Cjs2111 ( talk) 18:55, 2 January 2009 (UTC) reply
I've been arguing for switching Panhellenic Tower out for a while now, exactly as you suggest... needless to say, I agree. Drhamad ( talk)
Which suggestion do you agree with? A few have been offered as far as renaming. What I'm trying to figure out is what should be the exact names of the articles? And should this page be a dab page or be the article for one or the other tower? DVD 01:53, 5 January 2009 (UTC) reply
Good ideas, I agree with these and would help either article in any way I can. I can disaggregate and history merge them to keep the contribution history sorted out at any decided page name given the go ahead. Do we leave the page Beekman Tower a dab page? Its difficult for me to choose either to take the page Beekman Tower though I'll admit I am planning on adding some to the Gehry page. I'm still thinking of the Gehry tower at Beekman Tower and the Howells at Beekman Tower Hotel or Beekman (Panhellenic) Tower with hatnotes rather than a dab page since we are only disambiguating two buildings, but I'll defer to what you and anyone else who comments decide. Let's wait and listen for a few days more, but now that I think about it I should leave any decision to you and anyone who has edited the pages already and/or comments here soon. Another option is to move Beekman Place Tower to Beekman Street Tower (a name which has been used in several NYT and other articles and the tower is on Beekman Street not Place as I understand) and history merge the edits and information about the Gehry tower from here to there, then adjust the content, add hatnotes, etc. Maybe the Howells Beekman Tower should stay here since it had this title first—both on Wikipedia and in history. In situations like these I prefer to create a dab page for the most ambiguous title (Beekman Tower) so as not to privilege one article over the other. At the moment I'm leaning toward Beekman Tower (Gehry) and Beekman (Panhellenic) Tower as the new article titles, although parenthetical dates might make these more standardized. Articles on films with the same titles use the format "Title ([date] film)". Cjs2111 ( talk) 02:57, 5 January 2009 (UTC) reply
Let me know if you change your mind about the finalised names by tomorrow. Otherwise, tomorrow evening I'm moving them to Beekman Tower (Gehry) and Beekman (Panhellenic) Tower with a dab page at Beekman Tower. Regards, DVD 05:24, 5 January 2009 (UTC) reply
