i grew up in bedfont, never heard it called 'east bedfont' in my life. there is a parish called east bedfont, but the town itself is called bedfont. can someone change this article heading. calling our town 'east bedfont' is utterly ridiculous

It would be probably be best to point to some early references of the name 'Bedfont' to support what, to you and I is otherwise obvious. The article only has one reference at the moment anyway so a few more would help improve it generally. See
Wikipedia:Requested moves to get the article name changed. -

I have added an explanatory reference to a mention of West Bedfont as being part of the parish of
Stanwell and requested deletion of the redirect for 'Bedfont' to allow this article to be moved in its place.

19:57, 20 July 2014 (UTC) "Bedfont (historically East Bedfont)" bedfont wasn't 'historically' called 'East Bedfont'. More nonsense! Bedfont has ALWAYS been called Bedfont. 'East Bedfont' was a construct created by the church when creating artificial boundaries. If Wiki wants to mention that this happened 600 years (SIX HUNDRED YEARS AGO!) then fine, by all means mention it, but to put 'East Bedfont' in the actual title of is giving false emphasis and a false impression of this town and its namereply
'Bedfont' is the correct title of this article and the inclusion of '(historically East Bedfont)' in brackets is completely pointless and unnecessary. Worse still, its misleading.
adding '(historically East Bedfont)' to the title gives the completely false impression that Bedfont was originally called 'East Bedfont' and evolved into Bedfont. NOT TRUE! Bedfont has always been called bedfont since pre-roman times!
Wikipedia has a responsibility to ACCURATELY portray our town!
