To shorten the time of the extra-inning game, in July 25, IBAF announces a new rule which will be adopted in 2008 Summer Olympics. If the game remains tied after 10 innings, each team can choose where in the existing batting order to begin the 11th inning, and put the previous 2 hitters in the 1st and 2nd base with none out.
For example, if the 4th hitter in the lineup hit first in the 11th inning, the 2nd hitter will be placed at 2B and the 3rd hitter will be placed at 1B. The order of any subsequent innings will be determined by how the previous inning ended.
All other official rules and norms will remain in effect during extra innings required to determine a winner.-- NullSpace ( talk) 08:37, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
On the official 2008 Olympics Site ( http://results.beijing2008.cn/WRM/ENG/INF/BB/C76A/BBM400900.shtml#BBM400902) the official table uses both winning percentage and games behind leader. Therefore, in the interest in keeping this page as close to the official site as possible, they should be included. Shootmaster 44 ( talk) 07:44, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
The L.A. Times has criticised the US and China teams for their "dangerous" behaviour and "poor sportsmanship": "We were going to suggest that both teams be banned from the 2012 games for dangerous antics, but the Olympics committee already removed the sport from the games." Do the headers of the games not include the game information (eg date of play or location?)? The information exists when trying to 'edit' -- but doesn't display on main page. Is it related to the new Wikipedia changes in Jan 2023? 2001:1970:55EA:7D00:0:0:0:5BCC ( talk) 18:53, 26 January 2023 (UTC)
