There is a question about Azula in Sozin's Comet: The Final Battle book exclusive interview with Bryan Konietzko and Mike DiMartino on page 63.This is their answer:
“Is Azula really as evil as she seems ? Or is there more to her?
Mike: As all the Avatar characters , even Azula has a softer side , though it's buried very deep. As “The Beach” and “Sozin's Comet” showed ,she has a lot of unresolved issues with her mother . She really feels that her mother did not love her as much as Zuko , and this drives her crazy , literally.
Bryan: There are obviously some truly evil people in the world , but in the case of Azula , her repressed emotions and jealousies corroded her spirit , and made her become that way. It is possible that she could turned out better in a healthier environment, but growing in a royal family of a nation seeking world domination proved to exacerbate her problems . But Zuko and Katara spared her life and who knows she might have a chance to heal.”
The book is available at amazon. com, Borders and Barnes and Noble. Notaperfctionist10 ( talk) 23:57, 14 April 2010 (UTC)
"It is unknown whether this is due to some superior ability, but it is likely due to the fact that her fire cools down and turns orange." That is not an answer, that is a totally different topic. I'd fix it right now, but I'm busy. Byebye!

Would you say that Azula became symptomatic of Schizophrenia simply because she lost the control she had on her life and over her friends, or was it due to a variety of other reasons as well, like for example the fact that she realized that even her own parents held her at arms length even though all she ever did was to impress them?
