This article has been checked against the following criteria for B-class status:
von der Tann was commander of the first royal bavarian corps an the 22. prussian division and the kavallerie divisions Nr. 2, 4 and 6.
reinforcement after Coulmiers was by the grand duke of Mecklenburg, who had besieged Toul, Prince Friedrich Carl from Metz arrived 10 oder 12 days later in that area, just in time for the battle of Beaune-la-Rolande (28.11.1870)
Villepion was an victory for the french, but Villepion is a part of Terminier. Please see maps.google for this detail, Terminier in direction north-west (an the road over Faverolles), so this was just one single battle on the 01.12.1870. This battle is documented because the later Generalfeldmarschall
Prince Leopold of Bavaria was part of this.
Next day there was the
Battle of Loigny-Poupry, just one battle and not two. This also was an victory for the prussians.
The Battle of Beaugency
see german wiki (08 to 10.12.1870) is completly missing, this was a mayor battle with 137.000 soldiers.
The battle of Le Mans was also a mayor fight over 2 or 3 days (fights an the 09.01.1871 are in sometimes resources part of the battle). This battle destroyed the army of the loire, 7.000 dead or wounded, 22.000 POW, 50.000 deserted.
The Armee in general was not equal to the Army of the Rhine, most of the soldiers were
Francs-tireurs. They were trained only for a short time, the army had only a few officers with fighting experiences and they had not enough artillery. Please see
Camp Conlie "Battles". The equipment of the whole army was with different rifles.
I made a litte template with the Army Corps an their commanders based on the articles an on the
[1] (Ordre de bataillie). Perhaps someone can translate it and add it to this article. Thanks a lot--
