Notability
Mallory was a national, international and regional figure, establishing a school that attracted students from every state and from African nations. She was also important in creating alliances with other leaders and wroking through the NCNW, which expanded the national political roles of women, and broadening the civic engagement of the COGIC Women's Department. At a time when education of black students was severely circumscribed in the South and blacks were disenfranchised, she gained accreditation for the school, and acquired funds for its library collection and physical plant. She is covered as a major figure in an encyclopedia of African-American education and other academic histories, as well as the popular press.
