Reference to the number of islands?
To my surprise, I have been unable to locate a valid reference for the number of islands of various size. This would be, in my opinion, the most important reference in the article. Can somebody help? --

The webpage Virtual Finland
[1] states that there are more than 80 000 islands larger than 100 square meters along the coast of Finland. The same page states that the Archipelago Sea has some 20 000 "islands and skerries". I think it is unlikely that the Archipelago Sea would only have 25 % of the Baltic islands in Finland. This piece of information seems to very hard to reference accurately. --

yes it is, I came up with the estimate by adding up regional numbers of the islands. piece of original research if you will. it was some sheet of excel info from some ministry (forestry???). i don't know if some islands had been accounted in the two provinces (A, V), but i doubt it. The "80 000" adds up the islands of other provinces too. Can't seem to find it now, try also land survey office for this. —Preceding

Archipelago sea biosphere reserve (Unesco) is mentioned on the external link of the national park. I think at least the english name should be in the text, since it's is used also in official finnish sites.

The names of seas and such are translated pretty much always. Take a look at
sea and you won't find a single one with a non-English name. Besides, even if it was translated, it would probably have to be Skärgårdshavet, since Swedish is pretty much the dominant language in the area. -

What are you talking about? There are lots of e.g. Pyhäjärvi in Finland and none of them translate as Holy Lake in English. Doh. Taking into account the local linguistic situation this article should be apparently renamed Skärgardshavet Sea (compare: Lake Pyhäjärvi)? Skärgardshavet sounds fine to me too.

Yes, the sea is located in a Swedish speaking area, so if you would change it to a local name, it would be Skärgårdshavet. But if "Archipelago Sea" is commonly used in the English language, maybe that would be the first choice. --

The last paragraph of "Demographics and administration" is really poorly written, and lacking citations. This needs to be rectified. --

I made small changes in the paragraph about twinning and marked the source. I had to remove some claims about the hazards of fishing as at least Lummaa et al. make no mention of that. I'm not quite sure I understand what you mean by
original research—the given piece of information is attributable to a reliable, published source.

User:Hmains removed the article from
Category:Seas with the comment "set of islands, not a sea". I do not know the exact meaning of the word "sea", but as the name ("sea", "hav", "meri") suggests it is the water area (including islands) that is called the Archipelago Sea. The set of islands would be called islands of the Archipelago Sea or similar.
Was the change a missunderstanding or is there some reason for it that I am not aware of?
The current version of the article includes a photo of
Grand Duchess Tatiana Nikolaevna of Russia, taken in Kellosalmi. There is one place in Finland called Kellosalmi, and that is in lake Päijänne, not in the Archipelago Sea. Clearly the picture is either erraneosly labelled or in the wrong article. Can someboy clarify? --
