Would someone please clarify this statement. "The American Party won its strongest finish in the 1976 presidential election -- nominee Tom Anderson carried 161,000 votes (6th place)."
Why is their strongest finish not 1968 (George C. Wallace) or 1972 (John G. Schmitz) when both these candidates received more votes? Also, there is a discrepency between the vote totals for anderson, presumably because somebody rounded up 160,773 to 161,000.
