A fact from Al Gettel appeared on Wikipedia's

... that Al "Two Gun" Gettel(pictured) rode a horse to the
pitcher's mound in
western wear? Source: "You are strongly encouraged to quote the source text supporting each hook" (and [link] the source, or cite it briefly without using citation templates)
Nice work, as usual. Newness requirement satisfied by 5x expansion on March 3 and 4. Article is also long enough and appears to be well written and policy compliant. Hook is short enough and intriguing. QPQ satisfied. Image is of a Bowman baseball card, which has fallen into PD due to non-renewal.
The one issue I have is that the cited source (
here) does not say that he rode his horse "to the pitcher's mound". Rather, it states more generically that he rode on horseback "onto the field". The secondary source (
here), written prior to the event, indicates that the plan was for him to ride from left field to home plate on the horse. If there isn't a source specifically referencing the pitcher's mound, then a minor tweak will need to be made in the hook (and the article).

Cbl62, this is a good example of the importance of peer review. I must have confabulated that he rode to the mound somehow. I'm revising that into ALT2, and am open to any wordsmithing. –
