Could someone help with the translation from de:Aktion Rheinland article please? Sunil060902 ( talk) 17:24, 5 June 2016 (UTC)
I've made a stab at some of the passages most in need of work. I've had to guess a bit at the original intent of the text. Sometimes a literal translation from German to English works out OK. In some of the text I've worked on a literal translation is not so useful. There are a few places where there seems to be missing information. For example, the text now reads
I think that captures what was meant by the original, but I'm unsure why this was mentioned. I'm guessing that this showed that he would be sympathetic, but the connection between his recruitment and this statement needs a bit more information.
This is a bit unclear. If the plot was foiled, and they didn't have control of the city, how is it that they had any basis for negotiating the surrender of the city. This negotiation seems meaningless. They didn't hold the city itself, and most of the conspirators had been captured. What basis did Wiedenhofen and Odenthal have to negotiate? There seems to be some missing information here.
