@
SounderBruce, I see you making a few edits on the article page, can you help look at the map at the bottom right? Something is odd with it. There is a map of India, and a map of Kerala underneath it. Please can you fix if something is needed there.

Flight and crash showing runway 10 as final approach runway. Does not seem correct from the visuals available online. It was indded runway 28 and skidded towards the approach of runway 10. The line– On the second attempt on runway 10, the aircraft touched down near taxiway C, which is approximately 1,000 m (3,300 ft) from the beginning of the 2,860 m (9,380 ft) runway., only includes one varifiable citation, need more, if anyone can confirm it, it would be good for the article. Thank you.

Gone through the satellites maps. Correct !! Was prejudiced with these brick stacking
here in the satellite map that can be seen in the visuals of actual photographs from the
crash site. But failed to see that there is a small brick stack near the threshold of R28 too and matches with the small AAI hut with red roof
here.

ArnabSaha, please self revert
this edit, and the edit summary would be erroneous as mos:lead does not tell to remove citations all together from lead rather the guideline actually says to keep citation for possibly challenged material, and the citations used in the lead here for statistical and challenging materials like "into a 9–10.5-metre (30–35-foot)"...."broke into three pieces"...."second most deadly accident involving Air India Express"...."which killed 158 people". So, citations are necessary for the lead. However, no need to restore the previously removed multiple citation added for a single line, would not be necessary. Thank you.

I think the data and figures are well established now. also properly addressed in the body with better, official sources. citations arent required. need a citation for this "second most deadly accident involving Air India Express" ❯❯❯ S A H A18:15, 8 August 2020 (UTC)reply
ArnabSaha, it's not about well established or not, as because it should be assumed anything added in a wikipedia article should be backed by well established RS, there is no chance of not established fact. That's why such thing are not considered in anyway necessary to include in guidelines of mos:lead. Rather it's about materials that can be challenged. As clearly its written, The verifiability policy advises that material that is challenged or likely to be challenged, and direct quotations, should be supported by an inline citation. Above that a lead is a summarised version of the whole story and it should be expected that many readers only read the lead and infobox only just to take necessary knowledge. And when materials like the above mentioned phrases which are likely to be challeged should always have an inline citation. And even infobox whereever required, like no. of fatalities. Thus, please self revert the edit, which was errorneous per the guidelines to avoid a 3RR. I hope you got it. Thank you.

9/11 was a disaster. Beirut explosion is a disaster. Eighteen dead in a plane crash is not. Dunno what the threshold is, but it's sure to be more than 18.

Per our very own
Disaster: "a serious disruption occurring over a short or long period of time that causes widespread human, material, economic or environmental loss which exceeds the ability of the affected community or society to cope using its own resources." Where is the evidence that India could not cope using its own resources? I see no mention of foreign aid pouring in ...

You are explicitly contradicting yourself. 9/11 was a disaster, which you mentioned, but there was no mention of any international aid reaching the US. The US government coped with the situation with its own resources, but 9/11 is still definitely a disaster. --

Indeed a disaster, when there is so many loss of life in a such a short period. And aviation accidents are often considered disaster in itself since, each civil aircraft atleast cost US$100M or more, and this one is 450M, a huge economic loss for sure. A famous example
Green Ramp disaster. Why it's been removed? This is also a case of Engineering disaster along with anthropogenic or man made disaster.

The problem is the significantly differing definitions of disaster, and the project not stating the boundary between a disaster & a damaging event that isn't severe enough to be classified as a disaster.

about Safety measures of calicut airport
Everything mentioned in this article against calicut airport safety measures refered with this month newsapaper publications. please go and try to find the base of the news published ...that means fact of the information you provided.
for example I quoted below some information which taken from the source of the air india webistes.
AIRPORTS AUTHORITY OF INDIA website says "The aerodrome is licensed for use in IFR (all weather) condition" to see the statement scroll to "DETAILS OF PRKG" point No.3
[1]
According to Flight Plan an alternate airport is to be indicated, which in this case can be Kannur 60 miles up north and 12 to 15 minutes away. It is common knowledge that Kozhikode runway will have standing water during monsoon Landing at Kannur after the failure of first attempt is the safer option
I thank you

Hello Saha, I'll be taking up this nomination's review which I will present shortly. I hope my feedback will be of use to you and that I get to learn something new in the process. Tayi ArajakateTalk05:01, 3 July 2021 (UTC)reply
ArnabSaha, I've completed the review. The article is close to a good one but there is one major problem in that it is incomplete in a lot of aspects. I'm putting this on hold for the time being in order for them to be resolved There are also some other minor issues which should be easy to solve. Feel free to ask if you have any questions or concerns. Tayi ArajakateTalk06:00, 4 July 2021 (UTC)reply

The article needs some copyediting, there are grammatical mistakes here and there. Some of the references need fixing as well, they are missing authors or have auto-generated titles.
Aviation Safety Network is a
tertiary source, consider replacing it with secondary sources. The source itself provides citations for its material which could be use instead.
Ranganathan's concerns aren't adequately summarised in the second paragraph. It contains information which isn't present in the citation and doesn't have others which are.
The line regarding the airport being a tabletop runway could also be included in the first paragraph instead, the Hindustan Times and The Hindu citation contains information regarding this, it isn't attributed to Ranganathan.
The section concerning victims is incomplete. Some of them died later, and there are details surrounding about the victims. Sathe's state funeral should be included in this section as well.
Compensation should be merged with victims, the two sections are very small and can be expanded to include a more detailed account of the victims and reporting around them.
The last line under investigation is OR, please remove it and instead consider including concerns raised regarding the investigation itself, many of the citations report on it.
Hi
Tayi Arajakate. I have an issue with my PC for the last few weeks. I have ordered a replacement for the faulty component and its expected to reach in few days. Can you kindly extend the Holding Period? I find it very hard to edit in mobile. Saha ❯❯❯ Stay safe07:12, 9 July 2021 (UTC)reply
ArnabSaha, I've gone through the article for a second time and I think most of the issues are fixed. The prose still needs some improvement but otherwise it more or less appears fulfills the good article criteria so I'm going to promote it. Good work on it and congratulations on the successful GAN!
