in the future

the section on Underground comics should be expanded. Most information can be borrowed from that topics own section.

Also, sections need to be done for overseas comics, particularly those from Europre and Japan. A section for Pornographic comics will also be essential, but I know nothinga bout the subject other than to include Milo Manara's name Elijya 04:29, 11 November 2005 (UTC) reply

The underground comix of the 60's weren't "under the CCA." They were OUTSIDE the CCA with depictions of sex and ambiguous (to say the least) drug use. An analysis of overseas comics would also be great.

Merge?

Bumping this for some resolution. ( Emperor ( talk) 13:12, 9 June 2008 (UTC)) reply

I agree the term Adult comics encompasses more than just sex, primarily violence, adult themes, and other non-mainstream ideas that aren't typical children's fare, re: [7] [8] [9]

Erotic comics are a big part of adult comics, as shown by the many Seealsos which are purely erotica, but it is otherwise a one-sentence stub. I'd support a merge until enough sex-specific content gets added to support a separate article. Gotyear ( talk) 07:44, 11 June 2008 (UTC) reply

Hmmm, I basically agree. I would prefer an expansion, though, since a merging jumbles up two different concepts. 惑乱 Wakuran ( talk) 13:30, 14 March 2009 (UTC) reply

Female artists and writers

I've moved the following to talk. First, it fails WP:V, second, it's trivial/overly detailed (why where those particular female writers chosen? Are they the most famous of such a group? According to whom?). Third, are we going to have sections for male, American, European, other minorities/groups here? Anyway, this should not be restored without refs. -- Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 10:07, 2 May 2022 (UTC) reply

Although most writers and artists of adult comics have been men, there have been a number of women working in the field. As mentioned above, Olivia De Berardinis contributes illustrations to Playboy magazine. Elaine Lee, a writer who has worked for both DC and Marvel, collaborated with artist Michael Kaluta to produce Skin Tight Orbit, a collection of adult short stories published by NBM for their Amerotica label. Wendy Pini has also worked for Marvel, but is perhaps best known for her Elfquest series which she produced with her husband Richard. Amanda Conner was one of the artists who worked on DC/Vertigo's Codename: Knockout. Melinda Gebbie was the artist who worked with Alan Moore on the erotic Lost Girls graphic novel. Giovanna Casotto is an Italian actress and artist who draws erotic comics.
