Isn’t that a little silly, unless those Somali vessels were flying the Jolly Roger. Chwyatt 09:34, 7 November 2007 (UTC)
Unless there is evidence that 21st century Somali ‘pirates’ are flying 18th century English pirate flags, I cannot see a reason to add that flag. And if those 21st century Somali ‘pirates’ are not flying a flag, why add a flag that is nothing to do with them? There is no official pirate flag.
Who said the pirates are Islamic terrorists? Answer: no one Most pirates back in the day did not fly the Jolly Roger as they dont now. Either way the Jolly Roger is the symbol of piracy and that is why it is here. Also, are alot more than two Jolly Rogers types.
As for there not being a common pirate flag, you are wrong, the most common is the one used, Jolly Rogers took many forms, the one used is the one most people think of when they hear the words Jolly Roger. For your information, classical piracy occurred more in the 17th century, not the 18th. The 1700s was not a good time for pirates, at this time pirate numbers dwindled due to the emergence of large navies and the protection of merchant trade convoys.-- Az81964444 ( talk) 23:44, 18 October 2009 (UTC)
I have renamed this article to its proper U.S. Navy name. This article clearly involves the U.S. Navy so their name of the engagement should be used. Unless the operation name can be found, the problem with that is there most likely is not an operation name because all of the U.S./Somali pirate engagements were not pre meditated by the U.S. Navy and the pirates obviously dont name their attacks as "operation .....". -- Az81964444 ( talk) 00:26, 19 October 2009 (UTC)
I am intending to remove the section which for almost two years is marked as unsoruced on or around June 1, 2010. Obviously it is original research or propaganda or whatsoever and does not appear to show the actual situation at the time. So if one wants to add sources it is time to do it now. -- Matthiasb ( talk) 05:46, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
