Semifinal

In general, North American English seems to be moving to an un-hyphenated "semifinal" including most sources for this event:

  • "PFC in need of goals aplenty in second leg of CPL playoff semifinal in Ottawa" – Times Colonist
  • "Canadian Premier League announces playoff semifinal matchups, schedule" – CPL
  • "... in the first half of last Sunday’s semifinal victory over Cavalry FC" – Hamilton Spectator
  • "Goals key for Cavalry in search of CPL's semifinal moment with Forge" – Calgary Sun

Sounds good! My priority is just that we pick one spelling and use that consistently. Your point is well taken – let's use "semifinal". I am wordsmyth ( talk) 17:19, 1 November 2022 (UTC) reply
