The Ole Miss game is very biased with phrases like "The 2007 Florida Gators finally looked like the inexperienced squad that they are during their contest against the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford, Mississippi." You can state their inexperience, however you do not have to state that they "looked" inexperienced without stating in what specific ways for every time throughout the game that they were inexperienced.

The comment is not insulting or biased in favor or against Florida. It's a simple fact that was repeated by Coach Meyer before and after the game and was mentioned prominently in pre- and post-game media coverage. (For a few examples, click
here,
here, and
here.) If you continue reading the wikipedia version, you'll note that the next paragraph explains the remark and gives an example. There are other examples, of course, but mentioning every mistake would make the section much too long for a quick recap that's only a minor part of a longer article.
And the banner you added doesn't apply. You may disagree with the opening phrase, but the section is clearly neither a "personal story" nor written in an "informal tone." It'd fit right into a set of AP college football recaps, imo.

Actually, Wikipedia has a higher standing of writing than AP sports-writing or sports-writing in general. Our articles should be more matter-of-fact, with less flowery or overly descriptive language, and of course, written from a neutral POV.

I was going to suggest that we each start the game recaps of next Saturday's game on the opposing team's page, just as a fun test of objective writing skills, but I see that Auburn's 2007 season page doesn't have any recaps. Somebody should really get on it, imo; rough start or no, Auburn's a major program that should be well documented on this site.

I missed this comment somehow, but as for the 2007 summaries, I'll try to catch them up - I haven't had much free time between games and work, etc. But take a look at
2006 Auburn Tigers football team and I think you'll find the game capsules are very neutral.

"Actually, Wikipedia has a higher standing of writing than AP sports-writing or sports-writing in general." LOL, how did I miss that whopper??? Thanks for the best laugh I've had all day...
