The text ist an exact copy from Richter, Charles F., 1958, Elementary seismology: San Francisco, W.H. Freeman and Company, 768 p. Though it is cited in (and presumably copied from) the USGS page, it is not free. AFAIK, it must at least be marked as a verbatim copy or citation. Any other meanings? --
