Salasar Balaji Temple is a Hindu temple for the devotees of Hindu god Hanuman. [1] [2] It is located in the town of Salasar (near Sujangarh), Churu, Rajasthan, India. [3] Every year big fairs are organised during the months of Chaitra (March–April) and Ashwin (September - October). The Hanuman Temple is situated right in the heart of Salasar town.
Salasar is near Sujangarh, Churu, Rajasthan. [4] It is located on the Jaipur-Bikaner highway. [5]
A story is prevalent in the context of this temple. According to local legend, a long time ago in the village of Asota, Rajasthan, a Ginthala Jat farmer's plough collided with an object while ploughing, and stopped there. When the farmer looked, he saw some stone was there. The farmer started digging, and an idol of Balaji or Hanuman was found. At the same time the farmer's wife also came in the fields with the lunch for farmer. In his lunch his wife made the Churma of Bajra. The farmer indulge Churma to Shree Balaji Maharaj. And from the time and till now it is ritual to indulge Bajra Churma to Shree Balaji Maharaj. The day was Tuesday and it was Navami (9th day) of Shravan month (July–August) in the bright half (first fortnight). The farmer told the people about this incident. [6] [7] [8]
It is said that the landlord in that place also had a dream on the same day. In the dream, Lord Hanuman ordered him to install the idol in a Mandir in Salasar. On that same night, another person by name Mohandas - a resident of Salasar - was also ordered by Lord Hanuman in a dream to establish his presence by taking the idol from Asota to Salasar. Salasar Balaji is one of the most worshipped temples of Hanuman Ji. The spiritual and positive atmosphere of the temple is very peaceful. The temple attracts many devotees who come to take blessings as well as perform the rituals. A few of the rituals performed at Salasar Dham are:
- Mangla and Sandhya Aarti –
The morning at Salasar Dham begins with the morning aarti called mangla aarti. It has been a ritual for the longest time. Around 4 AM the aarti begins. Also, during the evening the sandhya aarti starts. Also, the diyas and lamps are lit with chants of prayer during sunset.
Moreover, the food is first offered to lord hanuman and then to devotees as the blessed food.
- Savamani –
Savamani is a very famous ritual at Salasar Dham. In this ritual, people offer 50 kg of food or prashad to lord hanuman to show respect and regard. Devotees complete the ritual of Savamani once their wishes come true.
The food is first offered to lord Hanuman’s idol and then distributed among the devotees or poor. People offer the favorite foods of Hanuman Ji like boondi , choorma, and laddu.
This ritual creates a very spiritual connection among devotees. Many people come to do this ritual to take blessings. [12]
