Sir Patrick John Rushton Sergeant (born 17 March 1924) is a British journalist, investor and businessman who is the founder of Euromoney Institutional Investor. Previously, he served as the City Editor of the Daily Mail from 1960 to 1984. [1]
Patrick Sergeant was born on 17 March 1924 in King's Down, Kent. [2] He attended Beaumont College. [2]
Sergeant served in Royal Navy before joining Mullens & Co. [2]
In 1948, he joined News Chronicle as a reporter. [2] From 1960 to 1984, he was the City Editor of the Daily Mail. [2] Later, he served as a director of Daily Mail and General Trust Plc from 1992 to 2004. [3]
He announced his retirement from the board of Euromoney in 2018. [4]
Sergeant has lived in Highgate since 1961. [5]
His daughter, Emma Sergeant (b. 1959), is an artist. [6] [7] She was firstly married to Nobile Riccardo, dei Conti Pavoncelli (b. 1957) and secondly to Count Stefan Zamoyski (b. 1949). [8]
