Mohamed Pappu Hossain ( Bengali: মোহামদ পাপ্পু হোসাইন; born 7 April 1999), [1] is a Bangladeshi professional footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Bangladesh Premier League club Abahani Limited Dhaka and the Bangladesh national team. [2]
Pappu Hossain started his senior career with Arambagh KS. [2] [3] He joined Saif Sporting Club in 2017, [4] [5] where he won the award for best goalkeeper in the Bangladesh Premier League from the Bangladesh Football Supporters Forum. [6] [7] He was also part of the club's 2018 AFC Cup qualification squad. [8] In 2019, he was loaned to Mohammedan SC. [9] [10]
In October 2019, Pappu gets his first-ever senior national team call up for a FIFA friendly against Bhutan. [11] [9]
In November 2019, Pappu got a U-23 call up for 2019 South Asian Games. [12] [13] [14]
In July 2023, he was selected in the main squad for the 2022 Asian Games. [15]
He is the nephew of Bangladesh national team player Sohel Rana. [11] His older brother Sujon Hossain also plays as a goalkeeper. [16]
