Nord Automobile Limited or Nord Motion (commonly shortened to Nord) is a Nigerian automobile manufacturing and a assembler company in Nigeria. Which the headquarter is located in Lagos, Nigeria. History
Name origin and impact
Nord Automobile Limited was founded by Nigerian entrepreneur named Oluwatobi Ajayi, In 2018. [4] The CEO of Nord worked at Jetvan Nigeria Limited. A company that helps market Mercedes-Benz in Nigeria. During is working at jetvan, Nigerians couldn’t cope with the price of Mercedes Benz sprinter which is a premium brand, Ajayi sought for a quality brand to cushion the gap and that was how he found the name Nord. In 2022, Nord Automobiles Limited, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the University of Lagos, to establish an automobile assembly and manufacturing hub in the university for the students. [6] [7] [8] [9]The CEO of Nord Automobile, has said the Nord Automobile Hub in the University of Lagos represents an era in fulfilling Nigerians’ dreams of having their personal cars. [10] And was acknowledged by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the governor of Lagos state. [11] [12]
Manufacturing and assembling
Nord company Started manufacturing cars in 2018, but it was officially launched in 2020 and was also available to the market the same year it was launched [2]
In 2023, Nord Automobile Limited, introduced Nord A5 and Nord Demir. The two new products, which is the Nord A5 and Nord Demir were presented to the public via a visual launch at the University of Lagos Showroom where Nord’s second assembly plant in Lagos [13]
