In Heard's first two high school seasons, he played at
Bastrop High School before transfering to
Neville High School.[1] In Heard's junior season, he switched to the offensive side of the ball to play right tackle where for his performance in the season he earned All District and All-State honors.[2] After Heard's senior season, he was invited to play in the U.S. Army Bowl where he caught a touchdown in the game.[3] Coming out of high school, Heard was rated as a five star recruit and the 22nd best player in the class of 2023.[4] Heard also held offers from schools such as LSU, Nebraska, Florida, Florida State, and Houston.[5] Heard decided to commit to play
college football for the
LSU Tigers.[6][7]
College career

During Heard's freshman season in 2023, he played in all twelve games, while making one start for the Tigers.[8] For his performance in his freshman season, Heard was named to the SEC all freshman team.[9] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Heard decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[10][11]
