Kowloon City began fielding a football team in the Hong Kong football league system in 2002 as part of a Hong Kong Football Association initiative to involve district representative teams. [1] Kowloon City were part of a group of 11 districts who participated in the inaugural season of this project.
In the 2021–22 season, Kowloon City ranked first in the Hong Kong Second Division before the cancellation of the season due to COVID-19 pandemic in Hong Kong. [2]
In the 2022–23 season, the HKFA accepted Kowloon City's application to be promoted to the Hong Kong First Division. [3] [4]
On 25 June 2024, Kowloon City have been confirmed their promotion to the 2024–25 Hong Kong Premier League after being crowned champions of the 2023–24 Hong Kong First Division League. [5]
